Q: What prizes can you win with the Double Play scratch-off?
A: There are three ways to win with this game. Players can win cash instantly by:
1) scratching the front.
2) peeling the backside of the two-sided-game.
3) Players can also enter their non-winning tickets for a chance win baseball-related prizes with the Maryland Lottery Double Play Contest.

Q: What is the overall probability of winning any prize on Double Play scratch-off?
A: The probability of winning any instant cash prize is 1 in 3.90.

Q: What types of Baseball Prizes can you win?
A. Players can enter for a chance to become the Double Play Contestant of the Game (one will be selected for every Orioles regular season game). The Contestant will win $1,000 for every double play the Orioles turn during the course of the game for which they have been selected and $5,000 for every triple play. Entries will also be eligible to win exciting Orioles experiences such as a meet and greet with the Manager, an Away trip to see an Orioles game, or watching a home game with 23 friends in the Owner’s Suite.

Q: What is the Maryland Lottery Double Play Contest?
A: It’s a fun second chance contest that gives Lottery Players an additional chance to win with their non-winning Double Play scratch-off tickets.

Q: How do I enter the Double Play Contest?
A: It’s easy. Enter each non-winning Double Play scratch-off ticket at mdlottery.com/doubleplay. The entry page shows you where to find the 13-digit entry number on the ticket. Save all non-winning tickets entered. They are required for final validation if you are selected as a winner.

Q: What can I win in the Double Play Contest?
A: There are two types of baseball prizes up for grabs:
1) The first is to be selected as the Double Play Contestant of the Game. For every Baltimore Orioles regular season game in 2011, the Lottery will select one entry to be the Double Play Contestant of the Game. During that game the Contestant of the Game will win $1,000 for every Orioles double play and $5,000 for every triple play turned.
2) The second type of prize will be an Orioles-themed experiential baseball prize. There are a total of eight Orioles experiential prizes, one each month of the season. The prizes range from a chance to watch part of an Orioles game from the broadcast booth or a trip to 2012 Orioles Spring Training.

Q: What if I am selected as the Contestant of the Game and no double plays are made during the game?
A: The Maryland Lottery will send you a Lottery prize pack, which will include $100 worth of Double Play scratch-off tickets.

Q: Can I win become the Contestant of the Game more than once?
A: Yes, but you can win Contestant of the Game once within each of the eight drawing periods.

Q: Can I win more than one of the Orioles prizes?
A: No, once you have won an Orioles prize you are no longer eligible for the remaining Orioles experiential prizes. However, you remain eligible to become the Contestant of the Game.

Q: Can I enter winning Double Play scratch-off tickets into the contest?
A: Only non-winning tickets are eligible. Don’t forget to redeem any instant cash prizes won by scratching the front or peeling the back of the Double Play scratch-off.

Q: Do I have to enter my non-winning scratch-offs on the website?
A: Yes, this is an online contest only. Mail-in entries will not be accepted.

Q: Can I enter the Double Play contest without buying a ticket?
A: No

Q: How many non-winning tickets can I enter into the contest?
A: There is no limit to the number of non-winning Double Play scratch-off tickets that a player can enter for a chance to win. The more you enter, the better your chances. However, you can only enter each ticket once.

Q: For the Double Play contest, does the Lottery draw from all the Double Play entries received, or only those since the previous drawing?
A: Entries are included in only one drawing. You must enter each drawing separately to be included in that drawing. Entries from the previous drawings are not included in subsequent drawings.

Q: When and where will winners be announced?
A: Winners will be notified by the Maryland Lottery and will be posted under the winners tab at mdlottery.com/double play. Contestants of the Game will also be announced during most televised Orioles games.

Q: How many drawings will there be?
A: There will be eight prize drawings to select both the Contestant of the Game winners and the experiential prize winners.

Q: What are my chances of winning an experiential prize?
A: Chances to win are dependent upon the number of entries received for that drawing. Odds will vary per drawing based on the number of entries received.

Q: If you win Contestant of the Game do you get tickets to the game?
A: No. The chance to win $1,000 for each double play does not include game tickets.

Claiming Prizes

Q: What do I need to do claim my prize?
A: To claim any prize, you will need the non-winning Double Play scratch-off that was selected as the winning ticket, a photo ID and proof of your Social Security Number. The actual ticket is required for final validation and delivery of prize winnings.
